Acupuncture involves the insertion and manipulation of tiny sterile needles at specific points on the body. The needles are one-time use, pre-sterilized and disposable. I use a gentle needling technique and tailor the treatment to the sensitivity level of each patient for a relaxing experience.

Acupuncture works at a deep energetic level in the body, influencing pathways of qi to open and flow freely. The acupoints are located along pathways all over the body, and are chosen for their particular functions. Some are moving and promote flow of energy and blood, while others are more nourishing. Acupuncture is safe for people of all ages and health conditions and has very low risk of side effects when administered by a trained practitioner.

Often, people feel better in ways they don't expect when they have acupuncture...they feel more relaxed, less tense, improved energy and have better sleep. Some people choose to do maintenance or tune-ups on a regular basis because they just feel better when they do. Acupuncture helps the body maintain homeostasis and keep everything working harmoniously. When this balance occurs, the immune system is stronger and the body can do much to heal itself. In this day and age of constant stimulation with cell phones, media, busy work and social lives, we all need more moments of true relaxation and peace to give our bodies a chance to rejuvenate. Acupuncture treatments are one of these valuable moments that we can set aside for ourselves to allow our body to catch up and rebalance.

Generally a course of 3-5 treatments are recommended initially, to determine the effectiveness for the health problem being addressed.  Once an initial course of treatment has been completed, a treatment plan and frequency will be suggested to maintain the positive effects. An acute injury may require just one course of treatment, where as other more chronic, degenerative conditions may require maintaining treatments periodically for a longer period of time.
